A recent case study for a major open-air shopping mall prompted the development of the current Sensing Deep Vision Beta add-on, soon available as a Plug-in for the Q-SYS™ Platform.

The challenge posed in this case study was to develop an automatic gain compensation control solution without necessarily being tied to ambient noise as input data for processing, given the impracticality of installing microphones and its ineffectiveness in this particular case due to the few and distant feasible locations for the sensors.

Thus, the use of CV [Computer Vision] resources as a method of quantifying the number of people in a given sector to achieve automatic audio gain control based on parameterization was proposed as an approximation solution. This solution had already been conceptually analyzed by Showtools LAB years ago, and is now adapted to the specific need.

In addition, Deep Vision neural networks allow us to add value to the solution, incorporating broader functionality for object detection and recognition for event automation [Triggers] and thus control the broadcast of courtesy, advertising and/or security announcements based on the occupancy of people on the site.

Uncommon for the AV sector not long ago, technological integration is expanding towards unaccustomed horizons and with it the possibilities of providing new, smarter solutions that maximize the benefit of our clients’ investment.
